East Manchester is already a key location for the food and drink industry, an industry that employs over 450,000 people in the Northwest of England.
Large and economically-priced land and premises are some of the key attractions to major food and drink players such as Princes Foods, Seamark and Greggs, who have already chosen East Manchester as their base.
The talent pool and availability of labour is also a major plus as are East Manchester’s location and connectivity. Its close proximity to the M60 and the motorway network is a real benefit, as is the 20-minute distance to Manchester Airport. The ports of Liverpool and Hull are also both a short distance away and easily reached via the M62.
East Manchester’s urban business hub, Central Park is one of the key areas attracting businesses in this sector at the moment, with Fine Lady Bakeries, a family owned company based in Banbury in Oxfordshire opening its £20 million northern base on the Central Park South site in October 2010.
