
New East Manchester Ltd (NEM) was established in 1999 and is responsible for one of the largest and most significant regeneration programmes currently being undertaken in the UK.
Covering almost 2,000 hectares immediately east of Manchester City Centre, the regeneration programme for East Manchester is transforming a huge area that was once the engine room of the city's industry into an attractive and vibrant destination, home to a growing and proud community of investors, businesses and residents.
New East Manchester is committed to:
- rebuilding the economic base
- helping local people who can work to work
- restructuring the housing market
- improving the physical appearance
- building on 10 years of transformation
NEM Ltd is a partnership initiative between Manchester City Council, the Homes and Communities Agency, the Northwest Regional Development Agency and the communities of East Manchester.
