Developed from the original 2002 Commonwealth Games warm up track, the Regional Athletics Arena boasts both indoor and outdoor facilities.
Facilities on site include an eight lane 400m track with covered seating for 6,500 spectators, allowing the arena to host national events yet accommodate school and community events as well as being open for use by the public. The arena is flexible enough to host all track and field events and is the venue for the AAA’s annual National Athletics Trials, the Paralympic World Cup and a number of regional athletics events.
The indoor athletics hall has a 200m banked running track and a six lane 60m sprint track. Specially designed nets cater for throw events and there are also facilities for pole vault, high jump and long jump. The central area of the hall is marked for badminton, basketball and netball and is widely used by the community during school holidays.The arena is also home to all Manchester City FC reserve games, various local athletics clubs and the national HQ for UK and England Athletics - offering an established athletics progamme.
