Transforming Beswick
14/09/2012 - 28/10/2012
We want to hear your comments on proposed plans being submitted to Manchester City Council
to create new community facilities.
The proposals cover 16 acres of Beswick and Openshaw West, taking in the land around Grey Mare Lane and Alan Turing Way, including the development site to the south-west corner of the City Football Academy.

These will help transform the area and benefit local people by creating jobs, a sixth-form college, leisure facilities and new shops.
The new facilities aim to create 195 new jobs and bring 2,500 visitors every day to a ‘community campus’.
This project is led by Manchester City Council and supported by Manchester City Football Club and many other organisations.
In 2011, a public consultation gave East Manchester residents the chance to give their views on plans for new community facilities as part of the Eastlands Regeneration Framework. 65% of people who replied felt that East Manchester was changing for the better and when asked about the overall plans for the area, 76% felt the plans were exciting.
Now East Manchester is once again becoming an attractive and vibrant place, but there is still work to do. If approved, these proposals will take the regeneration of the area to the next stage.
